An optical "expert" once made the statement that making bino-viewers isn't
rocket science. Well, he was wrong. If the viewer is not
correctly collimated and the eyepieces not correctly indexed, your vision
is going to feel like an exploding Saturn booster!
We first offered binocular viewers nearly twenty years ago, so I don't think
anyone has more experience with these devices. Since man is endowed
with binocular vision, a viewing system allowing the use of both eyes offers
distinct advantages over a monocular tube. Since both eyes are open
and the facial muscles relaxed, visual acuity is at its peak. You also
enjoy the feeling of additional depth of field.
For those of you wanting to get started with binocular viewing at a very
reasonable price, we offer the MK-20. It features fully multi-coated
BAK-4 prisms and individual eyepiece diopter adjustments. Nice 20mm
clear aperture. Straight-through viewing angle. In addition:
we will include a certificate of collimation from our Takashashi based
parallel light colliminator. We are also including a free foam lined
aluminum storage case.
As to eyepieces, while some are "throwing" in two "throw away" oculars, we
would like to offer you a special deal on two (2)
Abbe Orthoscopic eyepieces
made for us in Japan. Over the years we have sold thousands of these
and binocular viewer users report they are the "gold standard." These
will be indexed to your viewer in regards to right or left side, as well as
degree of rotation.
