2.8 Klee Barlow
Simply put, there is no equal
2.8 Klee BarlowThis product started the trend to compact 3-element Barlows. Conceived by the brilliant optical designer Heinz Klee, it is well corrected for spherical aberration, longitudinal and lateral color, and is the only Barlow we know of that tends to correct astigmatism in fast optical systems.

Differing from all other three element Barlows on the market, it features a fully air-spaced lens system. The six air-to glass surfaces are multicoated for 96% light transmission. Weighing in at only 2.6 oz. this is the lightest, most compact Barlow on the market.

The Klee has generated more favorable comment than any other product we have offered in the past 40 years! Many claim it corrects coma in their fast Dobsonians. The 1-1/4" format features a 2.8 magnification factor. The brass thumbscrew holds your eyepiece securely. The one and only "perfect Barlow" for your telescope.  Made in Japan

The New 2.2X Klee
2.2X Klee BarlowMost professional observers are familiar with our 2.8 Klee Barlow.  For the last three decades, this has been the benchmark for high power Barlows.  While others have tried to copy it, even charging over twice our price, none have been successful.

We are proud to announce the new 2.2X Klee Barlow.  Specifically designed for University Optics by Heinz Klee of South Africa, this unit will set new standards in exquisite performance!  For the last six months the first production units have been tested in the Southern Hemisphere by a friend of Heinz.  He was specifically chosen for these tests because he was an experienced observer and simply did not like Barlows!  Never used them.  Couldn't find one that met his critical observing needs.

Here is an excerpt from one of his reports relayed to us by Heinz:

"He has never seen details on the moon with such high contrast.  For example, he was able to see details far away from the terminator for the first time in his life.  On the large plains he was able to detect very subtle shading differences.  He states performance is simply awesome.  He looked at globular clusters and the planets with stunning results.  He was simply overwhelmed by the sharpness and contrast.  He happens to have an astronomy oriented radio show in South Africa and after relating his experiences, in one week he received over 300 telephone calls from enthusiasts who wanted to buy the Barlow!"

This new Barlow maintains the fully air-spaced 3-element design pioneered by the celebrated 2.8X unit.  For those of you seeking uncompromising performance, we highly recommend this unique product.

Specifications:   2.2 power-1-1/4" Diameter; 3 elements, all elements air-spaced;

Has the price ($150 - $200) for a large, high performance 2" Barlow kept you from enjoying all the advantages?  That has changed forever!  These are precision machined, fully multi-coated, 2-element achromatic Barlows.  The ED model uses high-index glass for even better performance.  A nice 1-1/4" adapter and captive bolt case round out the package.
